ABOUT THE 2021 BMW 750I XDRIVE
The 2021 BMW 750i xDrive is the V8 version of the facelifted sixth-generation 7 Series (G12), sold in North America only as a long-wheelbase saloon. Its twin-turbocharged 4.4-litre V8 produces 523 hp and 553 lb-ft (750 Nm), driving all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic.
Where 2021 sits
The 2021 model year was the second year of the 7 Series facelift, which brought a much taller kidney grille, slimmer headlights and a significant power increase for the V8: up from 445 hp in the pre-facelift 750i. The range in 2021 included the six-cylinder 740i, the plug-in hybrid 745e, the 750i, the V12 M760i and the Alpina B7. The G12 continued for one more year before the all-new G70 7 Series arrived for 2023.
Comfort and technology
Air suspension, a 3,210 mm wheelbase and extensive sound insulation make the 750i an exceptionally quiet and comfortable car, especially in the rear. Options included Executive Lounge seating, rear-seat entertainment, Integral Active Steering and a long list of driver-assistance systems. Production took place in Dingolfing, Germany.
Buying one today
The N63 V8 family has a history of oil consumption and oil and coolant leaks, though later versions were improved. Air suspension, electronics and large wheels and tyres are costly to maintain, and depreciation on large luxury saloons is steep, so a complete service record and a warranty are valuable.
Rivals
Its main rivals were the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, the Audi A8 and the Lexus LS 500.
