ABOUT THE 2010 BENTLEY CONTINENTAL FLYING SPUR
The 2010 Bentley Continental Flying Spur is the four-door saloon version of Bentley’s first-generation Continental family. It uses a 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged W12 engine with 552 hp and 479 lb-ft (650 Nm), a six-speed automatic gearbox and permanent all-wheel drive. Bentley quoted a top speed of 194 mph (312 km/h) for the standard car.
Its place in the range
The Flying Spur was launched in 2005 as a longer, four-door companion to the Continental GT coupe, sharing its engine and much of its engineering. By 2010 the range had been updated, and the more powerful Flying Spur Speed sat above the standard model covered here. A second-generation car, dropping the Continental name to become simply the Flying Spur, followed for the 2014 model year.
What it is like
The Flying Spur offers effortless performance with enormous torque from low revs, and its all-wheel drive provides strong traction in any weather. The cabin is trimmed in leather and wood veneer, with generous rear legroom thanks to a 3,065 mm wheelbase. It was built at Bentley’s factory in Crewe, England.
