ABOUT THE 2025 BMW X3 XDRIVE30I
The 2025 BMW X3 30 xDrive is the launch model of the fourth-generation X3 (G45), a compact luxury SUV built at BMW’s Spartanburg plant in South Carolina. It uses a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder with 48-volt mild-hybrid assistance, rated at 255 hp and 295 lb-ft, and drives all four wheels through xDrive and an eight-speed automatic. BMW renamed the model “30 xDrive” for this generation, replacing the earlier xDrive30i badge.
An all-new X3
The G45 arrived for the 2025 model year with a sharper exterior design, a larger kidney grille with optional illumination, and a minimalist interior built around the curved display that combines a digital instrument cluster and central touchscreen. It is slightly longer and wider than the outgoing G01, and the mild-hybrid system improves efficiency and smooths stop-start operation. The six-cylinder M50 xDrive sits above it in the US range.
Practicality
The X3 seats five, with rear-seat space comparable to the previous model and a practical boot with split-folding rear seats. Many physical buttons have been replaced by touch and voice controls, which some owners find less intuitive than the previous rotary iDrive controller and buttons.
Buying one today
As a new generation, the G45 has a limited track record so far. Check that all software updates have been installed, as modern BMWs depend heavily on over-the-air and dealer updates, and confirm whether any open recalls apply.
Rivals
Rivals in 2025 included the Mercedes-Benz GLC 300, the Audi Q5, the Volvo XC60, the Genesis GV70, the Lexus NX and the Porsche Macan.
