The 2024 BMW X3 xDrive30i is the mainstream version of the third-generation X3 (G01) in its final model year. It is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder with 248 hp and 258 lb-ft (350 Nm), driving all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic.
End of the G01
The G01 X3 launched for 2018 and was facelifted for the 2022 model year with a larger grille, slimmer lights and an updated interior. 2024 was its last year in the US before the new G45 X3 arrived for 2025, so this car represents the most developed version of the outgoing model, with the familiar iDrive 7 system and physical controls that many owners prefer.
Practicality
The X3 has a sensible cabin layout, a usable rear seat for adults and a boot that grows with the 40/20/40 split rear seats folded. Towing and roof-load capability make it a good all-rounder. Like every X3 sold since 2011, it was built at BMW’s Spartanburg plant in South Carolina.
Buying one today
The B46 engine (a US-market variant of the B48) is generally reliable. Points worth checking include oil leaks from the valve-cover gasket and coolant leaks on higher-mileage cars, plus normal checks of the brakes and tyres.
