ABOUT THE 2010 BMW 750LI XDRIVE
The 2010 BMW 750Li xDrive is the long-wheelbase, all-wheel-drive version of the F02 7 Series. Under the bonnet is a 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 rated at 400 hp and 450 lb-ft, paired with a six-speed automatic gearbox and xDrive all-wheel drive.
New for 2010
The fifth-generation 7 Series reached US showrooms for 2009 as the 750i and 750Li, both rear-wheel drive. The 2010 model year added xDrive, making it the first time a 7 Series had been offered with all-wheel drive. The 750Li xDrive therefore combines two of the most requested features for American luxury buyers: the stretched cabin and four-wheel traction. The extra length is given entirely to the rear passenger area, which offers limousine-like legroom.
Rear-seat focus
The long-wheelbase body made options such as rear entertainment screens, rear climate control, powered rear sunshades and ventilated rear seats particularly relevant. Up front, the F02 brought a cleaner iDrive layout with shortcut buttons, plus available features such as night vision with pedestrian detection and a head-up display.

Early N63 engines have a poor reputation for durability. Commonly reported faults include heavy oil consumption, failed valve stem seals, timing chain stretch, injector and coil failures, and leaking coolant and vacuum lines. Many cars have had extensive work under BMW’s N63 service programme; full records are essential. Self-levelling rear air springs and electrical systems are other known weak points.
Rivals
Competitors included the Mercedes-Benz S550 4Matic, Audi A8 L quattro and Lexus LS 460 L AWD.
