ABOUT THE 2013 BMW 750LI XDRIVE
The 2013 BMW 750Li xDrive is the long-wheelbase, all-wheel-drive V8 version of the fifth-generation 7 Series (F02), in its first year after a mid-life update. Its revised 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 produces 445 hp and 480 lb-ft, and power reaches all four wheels via xDrive and an eight-speed automatic.
The 2013 update
For 2013 the 7 Series received a facelift and significant mechanical changes. The V8 gained Valvetronic and more power, the six-speed automatic was replaced by an eight-speed unit, and the infotainment system and instrument displays were upgraded. The car was built at BMW’s Dingolfing plant in Germany.
Space and comfort
The Li model has a longer wheelbase than the standard 750i, with the extra length devoted to rear legroom, making it popular with buyers who are driven as well as those who drive. Rear self-levelling air suspension is fitted, and a long equipment list included options such as rear-seat entertainment, massaging seats and night vision. xDrive improves traction in poor weather.
Buying one today
The updated N63 engine is regarded as better than the earlier version, but oil leaks, cooling system problems and turbo-related repairs are still commonly reported. The air suspension, complex electronics and soft-close doors can be expensive to fix, so a thorough inspection is wise.
