ABOUT THE 2022 FERRARI ROMA

The 2022 Ferrari Roma is a front-engined 2+2 coupe, revealed in 2019 as a more understated grand tourer than Ferrari’s track-focused models. It uses a 3.9-litre twin-turbocharged V8 rated at 612 hp (620 cv) and 561 lb-ft (760 Nm), driving the rear wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Design and positioning

Ferrari presented the Roma with the theme “La Nuova Dolce Vita”, recalling the relaxed glamour of Rome in the 1950s and 1960s. Its clean bodywork avoids large wings, relying on an active rear spoiler, and the cabin introduced a fully digital instrument display with an optional passenger screen. In 2022 it sat alongside the Portofino M convertible, with which it shares much of its mechanical layout, and below the V12 812 models.

Performance and practicality

Ferrari quotes 0–100 km/h in 3.4 seconds and a top speed of about 199 mph (320 km/h). The eight-speed gearbox, shared with the SF90 Stradale, contributes to relaxed cruising. The small rear seats are best suited to children or extra luggage, and the boot is usable for a car of this type.

Rivals

The Roma competed with the Aston Martin DB11, Porsche 911 Turbo, Bentley Continental GT V8 and Mercedes-AMG GT. A Roma Spider convertible followed later, revealed in 2023.
