ABOUT THE 2018 BMW 650I GRAN COUPE
The 2018 BMW 650i Gran Coupe is the V8 version of the 6 Series Gran Coupe (F06), a low, four-door coupe-styled saloon. Where 2018 sits
The Gran Coupe joined the 6 Series range for 2013 as a four-door alternative to the Coupe and Convertible. By 2018 it was in the later years of its life, following the mid-life update that brought full-LED headlights and revised styling. Its role in BMW’s line-up would later pass to the 8 Series Gran Coupe.
Design and practicality
The F06 uses a 2,968 mm wheelbase, 113 mm longer than the two-door 6 Series, which gives rear passengers usable legroom despite the sloping roof. It has frameless door windows and a conventional boot lid. The rear seat is shaped for two, with a small centre position. The interior is finished to a high standard and was regarded as one of BMW’s most elegant of the period.
Buying one today
The V8 is known for oil consumption, valve-stem seal wear, timing-chain issues and leaking turbo coolant and oil lines. Electronics and adaptive suspension components should also be checked, and a full BMW service history is valuable.
