ABOUT THE 2021 BMW 330I XDRIVE
The 2021 BMW 330i xDrive is the all-wheel-drive four-cylinder saloon of the seventh-generation 3 Series (G20). Its turbocharged 2.0-litre B46 four-cylinder makes 255 hp and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm), with an eight-speed automatic and xDrive all-wheel drive. BMW quoted 0–60 mph in 5.3 seconds.
Where 2021 sits
The G20 arrived for 2019, so 2021 was its third model year and well before the 2023 facelift. It was a year of range expansion: the 330e plug-in hybrid became available with xDrive, the M340i was already established above the 330i, and the new G80 M3 arrived later in the model year. For the 330i itself, changes were mostly to standard equipment and option packages.
What it is like
The G20 is longer and wider than the F30, with a wheelbase of 2,851 mm, a stiffer body and a more modern cabin built around digital instruments and the iDrive 7 system. The four-cylinder is responsive and economical, and xDrive gives the saloon useful all-weather traction without spoiling its handling balance. The boot is a usable 17 cubic feet (480 litres).

The B46/B48 engine is generally regarded as reliable. Commonly reported items include oil-filter-housing and valve-cover gasket leaks as mileage rises, coolant leaks and occasional infotainment glitches that need software updates.
Rivals
Competitors included the Audi A4 45 quattro, Mercedes-Benz C 300 4MATIC, Genesis G70 2.0T AWD and Alfa Romeo Giulia Q4.
