The 2021 BMW X6 xDrive40i is the six-cylinder version of the third-generation X6 (G06), BMW’s coupe-styled mid-size SUV. It uses the B58 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six producing 335 hp and 330 lb-ft, with an eight-speed automatic and xDrive all-wheel drive.
Second year of the G06
The third-generation X6 arrived for the 2020 model year, based on the same platform as the G05 X5 and built alongside it in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The 2021 model was its second year, with only minor changes. The range comprised the xDrive40i, an sDrive40i rear-drive model, the V8 M50i and the X6 M. A notable optional feature was the illuminated kidney grille, a first for BMW.
Style versus space
The X6 trades some of the X5’s practicality for its sloping roofline.
