The 2013 BMW Alpina B7 LWB is the Alpina-developed flagship of the fifth-generation 7 Series (F02), in long-wheelbase form. It uses a twin-turbocharged 4.4-litre V8 tuned by Alpina to 540 hp and 538 lb-ft (730 Nm), driving through an eight-speed automatic gearbox. This entry covers the rear-wheel-drive version; xDrive all-wheel drive was also offered.

The 2013 model year brought the 7 Series facelift, and the B7 changed with it. Power rose from the previous 500 hp, and the old six-speed automatic was replaced by an eight-speed unit, controlled by Alpina’s Switch-Tronic buttons on the back of the steering wheel. Sold through BMW dealers in North America, the B7 is built on the BMW production line and completed by Alpina in Buchloe, Germany.
Long-wheelbase comfort
The LWB body rides on a 3,210 mm wheelbase, with the additional length devoted to rear legroom, making it suited to being driven in as well as to driving. Alpina’s changes include a specific suspension tune, its classic multi-spoke forged wheels, a subtle front spoiler and rear valance, and a cabin trimmed in Lavalina leather with Alpina badging.
Buying one today
The B7 shares much of its hardware with the 750Li, so the same areas need attention: oil consumption and cooling of the twin-turbo V8, air-suspension components and complex electronics. Alpina-specific body and trim parts can take longer to source than standard BMW items.
