ABOUT THE 2006 BMW 650CI CONVERTIBLE
The 2006 BMW 650i Convertible (listed here as the 650ci) is the open-top version of the E64 6 Series, a four-seat grand tourer. New for 2006
The 650i arrived for the 2006 model year, replacing the 645Ci and its 4.4-litre V8. The larger engine brought a meaningful increase in output while the rest of the car stayed largely as launched in 2004. The fabric roof is fully power-operated, and a separate heated glass rear window can be raised or lowered independently, acting as a wind deflector with the roof up or down.
What it offers
The 6 Series convertible is designed for comfortable, high-speed touring rather than outright sport. Active Steering, Dynamic Drive and a head-up display were available, along with iDrive. The rear seats are best suited to occasional use.
Buying one today
The N62 V8 is commonly reported to suffer from valve-stem seal wear, coolant leaks from the valley pipe area and oil leaks, and these repairs are labour-intensive. Check the roof hydraulics, drain channels and electrical systems carefully.
