ABOUT THE 2022 BMW 430I GRAN COUPE
The 2022 BMW 430i Gran Coupe is the launch-year model of the second-generation 4 Series Gran Coupe (G26). Despite the name, it is a four-door with a large rear hatch rather than a saloon boot lid. It uses a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder with 255 hp and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm). This entry covers the rear-wheel-drive version with the eight-speed automatic; an xDrive version was also offered.
New for 2022
The G26 replaced the F36 Gran Coupe and arrived for the 2022 model year alongside the electric BMW i4, which shares its body. It is longer than the 3 Series saloon, with a longer wheelbase of 2,856 mm, and adopts the same large kidney grille as the 4 Series coupe and convertible.
Practicality
The Gran Coupe’s real strength is versatility. The tailgate opens to a large load area, and the rear seats fold to take bulky items, making it nearly as practical as a small estate. The sloping roof does reduce rear headroom compared with a 3 Series, but it still seats four adults with a fifth in the middle for short trips.
