The 2015 BMW 650i Convertible is the V8 soft-top model of the third-generation 6 Series (F12), a four-seat convertible with rear-wheel drive in this form. It has a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 producing 445 hp and 480 lb-ft, paired with an eight-speed automatic. An xDrive all-wheel-drive version was also sold.
Final year before the update
The F12 convertible arrived for 2012 and gained the more powerful version of the V8 for 2013. The 2015 model is the last before the 2016 mid-life facelift, which brought minor styling changes and updated equipment. The range below it was led by the six-cylinder 640i Convertible, while the M6 Convertible sat at the top.
Roof and practicality
Unlike the 4 Series convertible’s metal roof, the 6 Series uses a fabric top with a separate vertical glass rear window that can be lowered on its own for ventilation with the roof up. The 2,855 mm wheelbase and long body give a smooth, settled ride, but rear-seat space is limited and boot capacity shrinks with the roof down.
