2007 BMW Z4 Coupe
The 2007 BMW Z4 Coupe is a coupe. It has a 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine producing 255 hp (190 kW), with a 6-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive. 0–60 mph takes 5.7 seconds and top speed is 130 mph (209 km/h).
ABOUT THE 2007 BMW Z4 COUPE
The 2007 BMW Z4 Coupe is the closed version of the E86-generation Z4, a two-seat rear-wheel-drive sports car. In this non-M form it is the Z4 3.0si Coupe, powered by a 3.0-litre N52 inline-six rated at 255 hp and 220 lb-ft. This entry covers the version with the six-speed automatic; a six-speed manual was also available.
Second year on sale
The coupe body was introduced for 2006, and the 2007 car carried over with little change. It stayed in production until the original Z4 range ended, after which BMW replaced both the coupe and roadster with a single folding hard-top model. That makes the E86 one of the few modern BMW two-seaters with a dedicated fixed roof. Production was at Spartanburg, South Carolina.
Daily use
With two seats and a rear hatch over the luggage area, the coupe is more practical for weekends away than the roadster, whose boot is limited by the roof. Interior space is snug for tall drivers, and the low seating position and long bonnet emphasise the classic sports-car layout. Road and tyre noise can be noticeable on long journeys.
What to look for
Owners commonly report N52 gasket leaks around the oil filter housing and valve cover, electric water pump failures and faults with the electric power steering. Check for kerbed wheels, worn run-flat tyres and suspension knocks.
Rivals
Competitors included the Porsche Cayman, Nissan 350Z and the Audi TT coupe.
