ABOUT THE 2023 AUDI TT COUPE
The 2023 Audi TT Coupe is the final model year of the third-generation TT (8S) and of the TT nameplate itself, which Audi retired after 2023. It uses a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder producing 228 hp and 258 lb-ft (350 Nm), with a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch automatic and quattro all-wheel drive. Audi quotes 0 to 60 mph in 5.2 seconds.
The end of an icon
The TT first appeared in 1998 and became one of the most recognisable design-led sports cars of its era. The 8S generation arrived in the US for the 2016 model year and introduced Audi’s virtual cockpit, a fully digital instrument display that also handles navigation and media, removing the need for a central screen. The 2023 car carries the styling updates made for the 2019 model year.
Practicality
The TT is a 2+2: the two rear seats are very small and best used for children or extra luggage. The hatchback tailgate, however, opens to a surprisingly usable boot, and the rear seatbacks fold to extend it. US-market TTs were built in Győr, Hungary.

The 2.0 TFSI engine shares its well-known weak points with other Volkswagen Group cars, including water pump and thermostat housing leaks. The S tronic gearbox needs its scheduled fluid service. EPA figures are 23 mpg city and 30 mpg highway, about 10.2 and 7.8 L/100km.
Rivals
Alternatives in 2023 included the BMW M240i coupe, the Porsche 718 Cayman and, for open-air driving, the BMW Z4 sDrive30i.
